There were some non violent BLM protests in the Baton Rouge area last year, to be seen by the "rich white people" they sent to South Baton Rouge, but they didn't cross over into Livingston Parish even though many of the nice suburbs are here.
My family in Denham Springs, which almost borders the city of Baton Rouge across the Amite, felt very safe last year, though even Baton Rouge didn't see violent protests. Its also known that Livingston is a very conservative area where people truly believe in gun rights, etc to the crazy element tends to not want to come here. Within the Baton Rouge area, it said that Livingston Parish is safe because its separated from East Baton Rouge Parish by the wide Amite River, and there are only two bridges across it connecting Livingston Parish from EBR, and if there were to be civil unrest, the police can easily seal off these two bridges to contain any unrest in Baton Rogue. If things continue getting worse, how far out from a city would someone need to live to avoid "spillover" from major rioting? Are the exurbs safe? Small towns 30 minutes from the city? Or do any people feel one needs to go totally rural to avoid violence? How much space do you think needs to be put between oneself and the downtown of a midsize city having a major meltdown? In extremely bad situations, does violence spread out from the city into the actual small towns or countryside? Last year we saw rioting spread from downtown areas out to some suburban areas of cities.
